Watercolor Paintings

Upon viewing Dan O'Neill's watercolor portfolio one might notice a significant departure from the gestural and expressive nature of his oil paintings.

This change in approach is consistent with his desire to "control" media in opposition to their natural tendancies. Wherein he let's the brush stroke go with abandon on his oils, a viscous and controllable substance; he is precise and diligent with watercolors, an unpredictable and fluid medium.

His eye for the worlds he paints, real and imagined, still pulls intense color and contrast to the pleasure of his audience. Allowing his interpretations of ancient gods and cosmic calamities to really jump off the page.

Enjoy!
